Does somebody in your Yahoo Messenger list have a really cool avatar that they don't want to share? You want that avatar too, so the question comes... How can you have it?! There are basically three methods for actually getting the avatar you want. Read how:

(1) Persist (or bribe the owner of the avatar) until they eventually agree to send you the image (that they hopefully still have). This is by far the best method out there.

(2) A good method is to make a snapshot of the screen, crop the image and then save it as a file. Some of you may know how this is done, while others never used the PrintScreen key. Whatever the case, I'll tell you all about it in the following lines. First of all, make sure the window with the avatar you like is somewhere on the screen. You can now press PrintScreen to copy the screen into the clipboard. The next step would be to enter your favourite image editor (MS Paint if you lack any other image editor) and Paste the image (you may use Ctrl+V to do so). What you should have now is an image of the screen from the moment you pressed PrintScreen. Since the size of an avatar is 96x96 you'll have to select the area you want and move it all the way to your top-left corner, then reduce the size of your image. By now you should have the avatar ready, waiting to be saved. Remember to save it as JPG/JPEG or PNG. Once saved, you can use it in your Yahoo Messenger.

(3) Use myAvatar. After lots of times of asking people nicely to give me their avatars, after lots of PrintScreen pressing, I had to do something! So I stood up, stretched my hands up for a bit, then sat down again to write a program that would extract the avatars for me. The only problem is choosing an avatar, since I have thousands to choose from now. But that's another story.

You'll always find a free avatar to match your needs. There are plenty of avatar galleries out there. But why waste your time looking for that cool yahoo avatar that you already have?

Instructions: After you download and install myAvatar, double click the shortcut on your desktop to run the program. A window with ALL the avatars in your Yahoo Messenger in it will show up. It usually takes within a minute to extract the avatars. Enjoy!
